What is considered standard equipment specialized equipment?

This article will explain the difference between standard equipment and specialized requests for students at Connections Academy schools.

When reviewing the information in this article, please note that the computer equipment and physical curriculum materials provided to students at Connections Academy schools may vary by school location.  If assistive technology is needed and included on a student's IEP, it may be requested by a special education leader (or approved special education teacher) using the Student Support Requests form.

Standard Equipment

Standard equipment includes items that are typically stocked and available to ship through Pearson's Fulfillment team.  Remember to check the student's Order Aware to see if an item was previously ordered and shipped to the student.  Here are some examples of standard equipment:

  • laptop
  • headset
  • webcam

Specialized Equipment

Specialized equipment includes less commonly shipped items that would be purchased through a third party vendor or approved Pearson vendor and shipped directly to the family.  Here are some examples of specialized equipment:

  • AAC device
  • mobility aids
  • adaptive writing tools
